I've been playing video games since I could walk.  I started off in the early nintendo era, playing games such as Super Mario Bros., Zelda, Metroid, etc.  As I grew older I became to the RPG genre(role playing games).  I was amazed by the amazing depth and involving stories they had to offer, and I had to have more.  Final Fantasy VII on the playstation one was my RPG debut.  It was so very much alive, like an epic fantasy novel.  The characters were very real, with real problems and emotions.  It breathed life into this widely considered "childish" form of entertainment.  They experienced moments of self-reflection, betrayal, and even death.  I felt a strange connectedness to this artificial world, with its lush environments and heart-breaking soundtrack, I couldn't help but be enamored by its artistic beauty.

But video games sure have come a long way, haven't they.  With new sub-genres and innovative ideas coming out of the woodwork every day, it's no longer considered a "childish" form of interactive entertainment, but a respected and artistic global industry.
